Custom earplugs for every situation
Every situation calls for a different level of protection, from festival to factory floor. Here you can see all Audibling uses at a glance, for your leisure time and for your work, and which filter goes with each.
For your leisure time
More about leisure →Which filter suits which situation?
All Audibling earplugs use interchangeable membrane filters from Dynamic Ear Company. For each situation you can see which series suits it and how much attenuation (SNR) that series has.
All-round. The light variants mainly reduce high tones, while the stronger ones give you calm for sleeping.
Travel and sleepLight protection that softens sharp sounds while you follow conversations.
Sensory overloadFlat attenuation, so music sounds the same, just quieter.
Parties and musicWind noise is quieter, and voices and traffic stay naturally audible.
MotorcyclingA level-dependent impulse filter gives extra protection at a bang, and you keep your spatial hearing.
HuntingExtra protection against hammer blows, presses and other peaks, while colleagues stay audible.
Industry and constructionThe most attenuation, with the emphasis on high tones. Also metal detectable and X-ray visible.
Food industryDisturbing noise is quieter, while you still understand your colleagues, patients or the class.
OfficeLoud music reduced, orders and conversations easy to understand.
Hospitality and eventsOne earplug, different uses
How the uses differ
All Audibling earplugs are custom-made from an ear impression, in hard acrylic or silicone, and are PPE-3 hearing protection compliant with EN 352. The difference between the uses lies mainly in the membrane filter, especially how much it reduces and which tones it reduces more or less. A musician wants flat attenuation, a hunter a filter that gives extra protection at a bang, and someone in an open-plan office a light filter that keeps colleagues easy to understand.
Because the filter is interchangeable, you can use the same custom earplugs for something else later. On the filter page you can compare all the variants, and custom earplug filters explained gives the background.
How loud is too loud is explained in decibels and hearing damage explained.
Leisure or work?
If you are looking for earplugs for yourself, choose your use, colour and filter in Design your earplugs and have your ear impressions taken at a partner hearing centre. You also pay there, and the ear impressions are included in the price. On leisure you can read how to use one pair for several hobbies.
Rules apply at work. Under the Dutch Working Conditions Decree (Arbobesluit), an employer must provide hearing protection when daily exposure is above 80 dB(A). Above 85 dB(A), wearing it is compulsory. For teams of 10 or more people we take ear impressions on site. The earplugs can be made in your company colour and, from 10 pairs, with your logo. See Audibling Business or request a quote straight away.
What the law asks of employers exactly is explained in what does the Dutch Working Conditions Act (Arbowet) say about hearing protection at work?
What does it cost?
The price depends on the use, the material, the colour and any extras. The DR filter is included. For a DM, DI or DIM filter you pay an extra cost. The current prices for each use and the business rates are on custom earplug prices.

Questions about uses
Which use suits me?
Look at where you wear your earplugs most often and choose the filter for that. If you are torn between two situations, for example concerts and sleeping, ask a hearing care professional for advice or get in touch with us.
Can I use one pair for several situations?
Yes. The filter is interchangeable, so you do not need new custom earplugs for a different level of protection.
What is the difference between DR, DM, DI and DIM?
DR is for general use (7 to 19 dB), DM for music and communication (10 to 20 dB), DI for industry and production (22 to 26 dB) and DIM for impulse noise such as shots and hammer blows (15 to 19 dB).
Does my employer pay for my earplugs?
If you are exposed to more than 80 dB(A) a day at work, your employer must provide hearing protection. Whether that means custom earplugs is up to your employer. Some supplementary health insurance policies (aanvullende verzekering) cover part of the cost of custom earplugs. Check your policy.
